I love figs … there’s something sexy about them.
Native to the Mediterranean, the fig is said to have been present in the Garden of Eden — and we know what a den of iniquity that was.
Figs are tender and juicy and succulent and highly perishable. What you are eating is the fleshy flower of the plant. The little achenes inside are the female parts.
Most we see are dried; however, figs do show up in places other than the Garden of Eden: some grocery stores and Vincenzo’s, for instance.
Dry or fresh, they are delicious.
