Cold -- and downright frosty! -- weather demands soup. Soothing…
Rana means beautiful. And Rana Doner Kebabs represents a taste of Turkish in downtown Kitchener. It’s a simple, small-menu, family-owned business serving some beautiful food. It is good quality and good value.
The most expensive item on the nine-item menu is Iskender kabob ($15). Kerem Ertabak and his family have put a lot of time into building the restaurant over the past seven years, and, like many other families, they work hard to make it work.
Ertabak is meticulous: he carefully and painstakingly prepares the 30-lb. beef doner skewers, stacking piece upon piece interleafed with fat precisely, each day. The same with the chicken. They prepare as much of the menu as their human resources can in-house, and they take great pride in the food of their Istanbul, Turkey, culture.
Rana is open Monday to Saturday until 8 p.m.
