The technical aspect of shortbread -- and its Medieval history…
Update: December 22, 2015
Congratulations to B @ THEMUSEUM restaurant and their compadres at Cambridge Hotel & Conference Centre, along with THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener, for a great dinner event yesterday preparing and serving a full Christmas meal to people in need.
“The turnout has been great and we’re very pleased with our staff and volunteers who have made the dinner such a tremendous success. We couldn’t be happier to have been able to offer this during the holiday season,” said Robin Lefebvre.
People were lined up in the rain well in advance of the beginning of the event, and they were invited into the restaurant and museum to wait in comfort with a cup of coffee until the food was ready.
About 20 staff spent most of the afternoon preparing for the service and by 4:30 p.m., when I popped in for a visit, about 70 people — including several families with young kids — had been served a complementary turkey holiday dinner. Many more were filing in as I left.
Kudos again to The B and THEMUSEUM for their generosity of spirit and donating their time in creating a sense of community and holiday spirit for folks vulnerable and less fortunate!

B @ THEMUSEUM, in association with the Cambridge Hotel & Conference Centre, has partnered with THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener to give back at this special time of the year — and they want your help in getting the word out to those folks in our community who need our help.
“We have decided that this year with the opening of B @ THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener, we would offer a dinner for those in need on December 21,” said Robin Lefebvre of The B, a pub specializing in local food and craft beer located inside THEMUSEUM. “We will be supplying all the fixings for a true holiday meal — turkey, mashed potatoes, and of course, stuffing. We just want to do our part in making sure that everyone who needs some help can enjoy a lovely holiday dinner.”
The doors open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the The B has reached out to House of Friendship, The Working Centre, Anselma House, Mary’s Place and other organizations to make sure these important community social-assistance services get the information about the event. You can play a role in getting the word out too.
“THEMUSEUM was also very kind to support us and open their doors to offer complimentary entrance to see their current exhibits,” Lefebvre added. “This event is for anyone in need. Our entire team at Cambridge Hotel & Conference Centre and here at The B are very pleased to be able to volunteer and give something back to our community.”
