Given its renaissance, it is obvious we love local farmers…
Head out to the inaugural — and scrumptiously seasonal — KW Food Pop-Up happening Sunday, December 10 at Descendents Beer and Beverage Co., which is located on Victoria Street at Lancaster in Kitchener.
The list of vendors is a long and delicious one, and the event is timed perfectly for the rapidly approaching holiday season:
Four All Ice Cream
Hugo and Nate Confections
West of Seoul
The Lancaster Smokehouse
Mamma D’s Delicious Eats
Wooden Boat Food Company
Refined Sugar Cakes and Sweets
Chef Scotty Cooks
MadGringo Hot Sauce
Upper Canada Trading Company
Ambrosia Pastry Co.
“The first KW Food Pop-Up is a curated collection of small and local food producers. You’ll find sauces, baked goods, preserves, chocolate, ice cream and kitchen accessories. In addition, Fo’Cheezy food truck will be on-site with gourmet grilled cheese. That’s just another delicious attraction,” says organizer Aura Hertzog of Ambrosia Pastry Co.
Hertzog says that the inspiration for the event goes back several years when Ambrosia started doing craft shows. “I thought wouldn’t it be great to do a food-only craft show? The set-up is the same as other craft shows in the area but with the theme of food,” adds Hertzog who endeavoured to fill a gap in what is currently being offered when it comes to good local food well made.
“Since the concept didn’t exist here, I decided to organize it,” she says. “I chose Descendants because not only is it a large space that can easily accommodate 12 vendors but having beer available for shoppers creates a relaxed and casual vibe.” (There’s no doubt about that!)
The pop-up begins at 11 a.m.
