Trying to decide what to nosh this weekend?
Here are a few ideas for restaurant visits around the Region. Starting in the east, we’re moving from sushi to classic Bretagne pancakes and then right here to good ol’ Waterloo Region–das schmekt! (Please check with the restaurants for their hours of opening).

Tomu Sushi Japanese Restaurant
#4-347 Erb Street W, Waterloo
519-746-1566
I’m not a fan of all-you-can-eat places, sushi or otherwise. Tomu offers a sizeable menu of Japanese and Korean dishes in a simple and clean setting. Eager and pleasant service leaves the AYCE places far behind. The sushi is not bad either.
Village Creperie
703 Belmont Avenue W, Kitchener
519-576-5796
www.villagecreperie.ca
Located in Kitchener’s Belmont Village, Village Creperie uses a galetoir to make crepes in the tradition of Brittany. When the flour used is buckwheat the crepe becomes a galette–with a thin wrapper for both savoury and sweet–and healthy–dishes, making Village Creperie a unique restaurant in Waterloo Region.
The Blue Moon
1677 Synder’s Road E, Petersburg
519-634-5421;
www.thebluemoon.ca
Since the 1880s, The Blue Moon has been a classic of Waterloo County. It was originally a stagecoach stop that now serves some of the Region’s characteristic–and classic–dishes like pigtails (yes, they really are a pig’s tail), rolled ribs and smoked pork hocks in a casual and relaxed country pub setting. At its best, the meals served in the Tree Room are food that really schmecks. Give the limburger and onion sandwich a try (no, really; do it).
